Lucas Leiva’s Transfer To Lazio Yielded Good Results As He Completed His Medical With Lazio.

The official Lazio Twitter account uploaded an image of the Liverpool enforcer at Rome airport on Sunday night holding aloft a club scarf in a clear indication he is putting the finishing touches to a transfer.

The arrival of the Brazil international sparked a frenzy at the airport as fans, well-wishers and journalists descended to welcome him to the football-mad city.

It has been widely reported that the Serie A club have agreed to pay the Premier League giants £5million for the 30-year-old Brazilian.

The Mail report that the Biancocelesti are set to sign Lucas as a direct replacement for Lucas Biglia, who has joined AC Milan for £17.5million after four years in the Italian capital.

Lucas has been omitted from the Liverpool squad that have arrived in Asia for a pre-season trip and is now set to end his 10-year spell at the club after joining from Brazilian side Gremio in 2007.

He has been a key player and popular member of the squad since being signed by Rafael Benitez but his playing time has reduced in recent seasons even though Jurgen Klopp has continued to regard him as a key member of the first-team set-up.
The midfield anchorman, who can also play at centre-back, made 31 appearances across all competitions last season, but just 12 of those were Premier League starts and his appearance tally for Liverpool is set to end at 346.

Lazio are currently managed by Simone Inzaghi and will compete in the Europa League next season after a fifth placed finish in Serie A.
