BIBLE PASSAGE: JOHN 16:1-11
  1: These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
2: They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3: And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4: But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you
of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5: But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
6: But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7: Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8: And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9: Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10: Of righteousness, because I go to my Father,and ye see me no more;
11: Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

MEMORY VERSE: John:16:26:
  At that day ye. shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

LESSON INTRODUCTION:

  The Holy Spirit is a personality often misunderstood or misinterpreted in the Christian faith. His outstanding numerous qualities diversities of operations and dramatic influence [as the successor of Jesus Christ] on Apostles and the Christians as a whole, are so remarkable and worthy of considerations.

TEXT REVIEW: JOHN 16:1-11

The Holy Spirit would do these things among others according to John 16:8-11.

i.He would reprove the world of sin.
John16:8.
 This means,the Holy Spirit would expose the arrow of godless world view of sin. The sin here is failure of the world to know the Father and accept or believe/and trust the Son as the Savior.
John 16:3.
This ignorance had been responsible for why many would think they are doing service to God when in actual fact they are doing service to the devil. John 16:2

ii.The second assignment of the Holy Spirit has to do with righteousness
 John 16:8,10.
He would expose Christ as one who was the
Father from the beginning and that He is the righteousness of God which came from above and through His righteousness believers have been made the righteousness of God. II Pet. 1:1

iii. The third duty of the Holy Spirit, according to
our Bible passage, has to do with the judgment.
John. 16:8, 11. This implies that the Holy Spirit would expose the truth to believers that the devil, the Prince of this world, and his demons have been judged by the Lord Himself.
 He is a defeated foe not to be afraid of. Eph.1:20-23 explains that when Christ rose from the dead, God raised him
above principalities and powers and PUT ALL THINGS under His feet including Satan,
Rom.16:20, and all His enemies. 1Cor. 15:25
