Ile-Ife Clash With Hausa Settlers At Sabo In Osun State



Violent clash in the ancient town of Ile-Ife, on Wednesday left no fewer than five people dead, as Hausa settlers and Yoruba indigenes clashed, DAILY POST reports.

An eye witness, Mr Kamoru Fatai at Sabo area of the town, which is predominantly Hausa settlement told DAILY POST that the crisis started when a Yoruba man accused an Hausa man of taking advantage of his wife.

The disagreement, however, snowballed into serious crisis when the kinsmen of the Hausa man ganged up to defend one of their own.

The development eventually led to the death of five persons, around Sabo while several property were destroyed.

Also, some group of youth were sighted at Lagere junction of the town, embarking on retaliatory mission for what they termed an affront on their rights.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relation Officer(PPRO) in Osun State, SP Folashade Odoro, when contacted for comment said, “we are managing the situation, it is under control”.
