Not Fewer Than TEN People Died In A Storm In Texas

Severe storm bringing flash flooding and tornadoes killed 10 people and injured dozens, leaving a trail of destruction across Arkansas, Missouri and Texas, officials said.

The line of storms in Texas that spawned tornadoes were among several in parts of the South and Midwest that brought strong winds, thunderstorms and torrential rain in the three American states over the weekend.

In Arkansas, a 65-year-old woman was killed when a tree was blown into her home in De Witt while the woman was lying on her couch when the tree collapsed into her home, according to reports.

In Missouri, a 72-year-old woman drowned in spite of her husband’s efforts to save her as their vehicle was swept away by rushing waters after heavy rains caused flooding.

In Texas, search teams went from door to doorb on Sunday, a day after storms cut a 35 miles long and 15 miles wide path in Van Zandt County, Canton Mayor, Lou Ann Everett, said.

The largely rural area is about 50 miles east of Dallas.

“It is heartbreaking and upsetting to say the least,” Everett said at news conference on Sunday.

The mayor said storms flipped pickup trucks at a Dodge dealership in Canton and tore through the business.

Everett said authorities had confirmed four deaths in the area, down from the five deaths reported earlier, but cautioned that “it is a very fluid situation and that could change”.

Searchers were using dogs to determine whether “anyone is trapped and needs help, or worse."

THEME: GROW IN GIVING

Memorise:

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Luke 6:38

Read: Luke 6:36-38

6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

MESSAGE

God is interested in the prosperity of His children. Although He has made His resources available to us, it will take obedience and compliance with His principles to tap into them. To tap into the financial resources of heaven, you must pay your tithes, give offering and fulfill your pledges and vows. You must be ready to give, if you want something in return. A while ago, while preaching at a particular church, as I issued some prophetic decrees over the congregation, I noticed that their response of “Amen” was quite loud. Then I jokingly said one of them will buy a new jet, and the loudness of their response nose-dived. Another time, I was in the same church and repeated what I said before; this time, their response was much louder. So I said to them, “You people are different.” I perceived that their faith and understanding of giving had grown.

Proverb 3:9-10 says if you can honor God with your first fruits, you will be dazed and amazed at what He would do I your life. It is one thing to have knowledge, and it is another thing to apply it. I once shared with some pastors that your teacher will never teach you all he knows, otherwise he wouldn’t be a teacher; but your father will be willing to teach you all he knows, although he may reserve one or two till moments before his death. In other words, there are certain secrets that a person can only get from his or her father, and I would like to share one of those secrets that God has revealed to me with you. One day, while sitting quietly somewhere, God said to me, “Son, what kind of pastor would you like to be?” I replied, saying “Daddy, I am sorry I don’t understand the question” He then further asked, “Do you want to be the best or worst, the greatest or the least, the richest or the poorest pastor?” I told Him I wanted to be the best, greatest and richest pastor, and He went silent. At a church programme not long after, the Lord asked again, “Son, what kind of pastor did you say you want to be?” I quickly replied, “The best, greatest and richest pastor.” Then He asked me to give the highest denomination in my pocket. I reluctantly obeyed. At another meeting, He again asked me the type of pastor I want to be, and I responded as before, and He instructed me to double what I normally gave as offering. I easily complied this time around because things had started changing for me since I began to obey His instructions on giving. When I shared this testimony some years ago, someone told me he moved up to giving N10,000 for every offering. I congratulated him and told him I was at that stage in 1998 but had since surpassed that. Although my giving was sacrificial initially because things were hard for me, I give glory to God that things are no longer hard. If you don’t grow up in your giving, you may not be enlarged in your receiving.

Prayer Point:

Father, raise more Christ-like leaders to mentor your people, and make me one of such.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Numbers 32-33
Jeremiah 24

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 10: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

1. There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Saviour above.

Refrain:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy drops ‘round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

2. There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.
[Refrain]

3. There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honor Thy Word.
[Refrain]

4. There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing

Ghost President,Fighting Ghost Workers!!!

Former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Electronic Media, Reno Omokri has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a “ghost President.”

Omokri, made the claim while reacting to the failure of the President to preside over the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting on Wednesday.

Buhari had yesterday failed to preside over the FEC meeting for the third consecutive time. However, he delegated his role to his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo.

But reacting to the situation, the former Presidential aide said it was hypocritical for a government that fights ghost workers to be headed by a “ghost President.”

The United States based Pastor advised Buhari to hand over power to his deputy if he can’t carry on.

In a series of tweets on his social media handle, Omokri wrote:  “It is hypocritical for a govt that fights ghost workers to have a ghost President.

 If the President is sick, let him hand over to Osinbanjo!
“If you thinks it’s harsh to ask President Buhari to hand over to Osinbanjo ask him if he did not give the same advice to Yar’adua in 2010!

“On March 10, 2010, President Buhari called for impeachment of Yar’adua because his illness prevented him from performing his duties.

“For 3 weeks our President hasn’t attended FEC, for 3 weeks we only see him at Mosque. Would President Buhari have tolerated this from Yaradua/GEJ?

“Ghost President, with ghost achievements fighting ghost workers with EFCC that goes after his ghost monies in apartments owned by ghosts.

“I urge any civil servant who is being queried or sacked for absenteeism to sue the FG. If President Buhari can work from home, why cant you?

“Hand over to Osinbanjo! It doesn’t have to be permanent. Go take care of yourself. Aso Rock is a PRESIDENTIAL Villa not a retirement home!”

Engr. Babachir Lawal (SGF) Ignors Senate Committee Again

The suspended Secretary to the government of the federation, Engr. Babachir Lawal has again snubbed the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on humanitarian crises in the North East.

The public hearing which was scheduled for today at the SGF’s request for 10.am Thursday, had all the Committee members waiting for two hours without his presence.

Reacting to the development, the Senate Committee Chairman, Senator Shehu Sani expressed dissatisfaction over the recalcitrant of Mr. Lawal, saying the hearing was an opportunity for him to clear himself on some vexed issues.

“The suspended SGF had the opportunity to clear some issues in a public hearing like this which was fixed at his own request.

Unfortunately, he refused to come after waiting for him for two hours.

“The letter of invitation was taken to SGF’s but we could not see him, the messenger took it to his residence, but was turned back by his security personnel,” Sani revealed.

Sani noted that the Committee would go ahead to submit report to the red Chambers for further debates.

In the same vein, Senator Ben Murray Bruce, said it was probable that his appearance would have allowed him to clarify issues that were of positive effect in his situation.

He added that those advising him against appearing before the Senate Committee were not helping matters.
